LIVE SHOWS on FB coming this summer!
Funk pianist and singer/songwriter Jason Yudoff's soulful voice and percussive keyboard playing carve out an original path of funk, rock, and soul with a hip and passionate vibe. He comfortably straddles that fine line between underground and mainstream; combining catchy, hook-heavy 'singles' with a funky jamband mentality and high-energy rock feel.
Originally from (and currently living in) Brooklyn NY, Jason's wide range of influences include Jamiroquoi, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Otis Redding, Stevie Ray Vaughn, King's X, Marvin Gaye, P-Funk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, Herbie Hancock, 60's soul, 70's funk, and 80's hard rock. He also really digs 90's hip hop, and chooses Beatles over Stones eight days a week.
Jason's 2 studio albums "Smoke Sex Water" and "Tragic Hero" were selected to the Official Grammy Ballots in a combined 12 categories, including 'Album of the Year' and 'Best New Artist'. He didn't win, but it was certainly nice to be recognized. He has been chosen by the Songwriters Hall Of Fame for 2 Writer's Showcases and compilation CD, has been featured on N.P.R., Z-100, Next Big Hit, CMJ and Music Connection.
Keyboard Magazine calls Jason's music: "Party Music of the Highest Order!", while legendary drummer Carmine Appice says "Great voice, killer keys, interesting grooves... Soulful songs, old school - as they should be!"
Jason has played such varied venues - from Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall to busking in the NYC Subway system. He has played everywhere from the House of Blues in LA to the Gramercy Theatre in NYC, from the Al Hussein Cultural Center in Amman, Jordan to the Central Park Summerstage. From the Seattle Kingdome to the Highline Ballroom, not to mention every bar, club or hotel piano he's seen from Hawaii to Budapest to Colombia to Koln to Australia to everywhere in between. He has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" twice, performed for President George W. Bush, and shared stages with Jimmy Buffet, Dennis De Young, Fuel, 3 Doors Down, Ryan Cabrera and Hilary Duff. DeYoung brought a 30 piece orchestra and only did 5 songs. Hey, a gig's a gig... but that must've cost a lot.
Either as a solo performer or with up to a 10 piece band including a full horn section, Jason Yudoff & The New Hotness guarantees a high energy electric show that will leave your head nodding and soul shaking. There just isn't anyone out there with this kind of sound. Jump on board the Jason Yudoff bandwagon at @Yudoverse on all your favorite social networks. Then it'd be cool to tell 27 of your closest friends to do the same. Stay safe out there!
